A FEW WORDS ON BASC 2026

Dear BASC family,

It's now been a little over a month since BASC 2026 ended, and everyone is back home and rested. So I want to take this opportunity to give you the rundown of this 3rd edition.

First of all, I can't go on without thanking the wonderful women who trusted us and helped bring Basel Art Summer Camp to life:

Tanisha Raj, Jewel Britton, Alexandra Steinacker-Clark, Lyse de Quillacq, Daisy Walker, Elise Potelune, Georgia Salisbury, Isobel Brigham, Ketevan Jananashvili, Lekeitha Haynes, Shama Johns, Zofia Chamienia, the Hyve Team, and of course, Monica Scott.

💛

I really encourage you to keep an eye on the artists' socials : they all have such lovely journeys ahead of them, and this is only the beginning.

A FEW NUMBERS :

Words feel too small to capture this crazy week, the love, and the sheer scope of what BASC has become... so instead, we'll let the numbers speak for themselves:

4 volunteers

6 days

8 artists

10 workshops and activities

11 happy owners of a copy of "Working in Art: How to build a career in the art world" by Alexandra Steinacker-Clark.

20 original pieces sold

95 artworks sold

And an infinite amount of love.

MY FEW THOUGHTS ON BASC :

As this was my first year putting together Basel Art Summer Camp, I can truly say I was overwhelmed by the impact this week has, the community it brings together, and that keeps growing, year after year. Artists, collectors, art lovers, curious neighbours, friends and guests…

Seeing the joy on our artists' faces as they connected with their audience, sometimes for the very first time, and the excitement of our visitors when they found a piece that truly resonated with them, is something I will carry with me for a long time.

There's a particular kind of magic in watching a stranger stop because a painting caught their eye, or an artist light up while explaining the story behind their work. Those small moments, multiplied over six days, are what BASC is really about.

BASC has come such a long way since its beginnings (FYI, the art vending machine is still working, if you ever want to stop by Hyve for a little coffee).

What started as a simple idea has grown into something so many of you now consider a yearly tradition, a reason to gather. And it's thanks to all of you, your trust, your support, your presence, that we're still able to offer this incredible opportunity to 8 artists from around the world, every year.

CALL FOR COLLECTORS

Stay tuned : our very first Collectors Club event is coming soon!

In the meantime, feel free to reach out if you're feeling inspired to start your journey as a collector. We'd love to help you take that first step :)

Thank you for all the love and support,

that's all for now folks!

We look forward to sharing the next steps of BASC with you very soon…

Best, Tay x
